AFuels - Road to the futureA Clean Burn

AFuels' research has developed a technology that combines a dual-fuel mixture of acetylene and alcohol to burn in air via a safe and controllable process. Patents have been issued for the application of this new technology within spark or compression combustion engines. Also, a patented process for burning acetylene only in internal combustion engines has recently been issued. (Patent # 7,093,567)

The dual-fuel mixture has a heating value of 20,500 BTU/lb., most of which is derived from acetylene, and burns with an efficiency of 40% or higher. When AFuels' technology is compared to that of a gasoline spark ignition internal combustion engine with a typical burn efficiency of 25%, the advantages of AFuels' new technology become increasingly clear.

AFuels' patented dual-fuel process has exhibited a burning capability at least 10 times cleaner than that of existing fossil fuels, well below the targeted emission standards outlined by the United States Environmental Protection Agency proposed regulations for the year 2012. Remarkably, this rate has been attained without the utilization of catalytic converters or other emission scrubbing systems. From an environmental standpoint, AFuels' acetylene-based dual-fuel process addresses established Clean Air Act "criteria contaminants" by burning with little to no Carbon Monoxide (CO), Nitrogen Oxide (NOx), Sulfur Oxide (SOx) or Non-Methane Hydrocarbon (NMHC) emissions. The clean-burning attributes of the AFuels technology alleviate the need for Emission Gas Recirculating systems or Catalytic Converters when retrofitted to a spark or compression type internal combustion engine. The clean-burning, low-emission nature of AFuels' acetylene-based, dual-fuel process is not only a viable solution for outdoor and off-road applications, but indoor applications as well. Utilization of this dual-fuel technology allows internal combustion engines to operate at a lower temperature (approximately 1,200¼ Fahrenheit), prolonging the life expectancy of the engine and internal lubricants, without sacrificing performance or operational efficiency. AFuels' patented technology has been successfully retrofitted to power generation, transportation and commercial applications. Understanding the global dependency on petroleum-based fuels, AFuels introduces a new and innovative dual-fuel process that has a far-reaching scope and limitless applications.
